A bail bond premium in California commonly equals 10% of the bond amount, according to the California Department of Insurance. At that example rate, a $50,000 bond would have a $5,000 premium. The actual quote depends on the applicable filed rate, permitted rebates and any allowable expenses. Ask for the total in writing.
Illustrations at a 10% premium rate, before any applicable allowable expenses. These are examples, not a quote or a required down payment.
The bail amount is the security set for release. The premium is the charge for the bond. Collateral, if required, separately secures the agreement. A payment plan changes when the agreed premium is paid; it does not erase the balance. Read about payment plans and collateral.
East Los Angeles uses the Los Angeles County schedule. This easy-read selection covers 42 felony entries and specific circumstances. It is not the complete schedule or a live booking record. Match the code, subsection and circumstances, then verify the current custody record before paying.
The protocol designates CR, BR and MR offenses as $0 bail categories for eligible pre-arraignment cases. CR and BR eligible arrestees are not required to post cash bail; MR requires a magistrate’s release decision. They are not promises of automatic release. Holds, warrants, criminal history, enhancements, multiple charges and court orders may change the outcome. The judge’s arraignment decision can differ.

Basic misdemeanor DUI, domestic battery and misdemeanor resisting arrest are not priced by this felony-only table. Do not use the PC 273.5 corporal-injury amount for a PC 243(e)(1) domestic-battery booking, or the PC 69 pathway for PC 148(a)(1). The exact charge matters.
For child endangerment, PC 273a(a) is listed as MR. For felony DUI, the schedule distinguishes the base entry from a specified great-bodily-injury or weapon circumstance. Embezzlement and sex-crime allegations also have separate code entries; one general label cannot give an accurate bond quote.
Call (323) 213-3472 with the name, booking number if known, exact charge and current facility. We can help check whether bail is available and explain a written quote.
No. At an example 10% rate, the premium would be $5,000. Confirm the actual rate, allowable expenses and any collateral separately in writing.
The 2026 felony schedule lists $50,000 for its base PC 273.5 entry and $100,000 for the specified prior-conviction entry. Those are scheduled bail amounts, not bond premiums, and do not replace the current booking or court order. Domestic battery under a different code is not the same entry.
The felony schedule lists MR for VC 23152 when felony under VC 23550 or 23550.5 and for the base VC 23153 injury entry. It lists $100,000 for the specified VC 23153 great-bodily-injury or weapon circumstance shown in the table. Basic misdemeanor DUI requires the applicable misdemeanor rules and the actual booking status.
The protocol designates MR offenses as $0 bail categories for eligible pre-arraignment cases, but release requires magistrate review. This is not a guarantee of immediate release. Confirm eligibility, the review outcome and any conditions.
Premiums generally are not refundable even when charges are dropped. Certain exceptions can apply. Collateral is separate and is released when the bail obligation is satisfied and the bond is exonerated, subject to the agreement.
Ask about available arrangements for the specific bond. Get the full premium, initial payment, due dates, collateral and signer obligations in writing. A small initial payment is not the total cost.
Yes. Enhancements, additional matters, release eligibility and judicial orders can affect bail or release conditions. Use the current custody and court information rather than relying only on a schedule.
First confirm the person remains at the station and that a bond can be accepted. Call (323) 213-3472 to review the booking and quote. Posting a bond and completing physical release are separate steps. See the station guide.
